Guilin Power Capacitor Co., Ltd. ("the Company" for short), of which the predecessor was Guilin Power Capacitor General Factory directly under the former Ministry of Machine Industry of China, was founded in 1967. Located in Guilin, a city known for its stunning landscapes, it is recognized as a "Little Giant", a national technology innovation demonstration enterprise, and a national high-tech enterprise. The Company hosts a post-doctoral research station. As a professional manufacturer and research base of power capacitors and their complete equipment, the Company is equipped with a leading-edge production line and testing base for UHV power capacitors. Its UHV/EHV power capacitor products have won the special and first prizes of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award three times. In September 2006, it was restructured into a privately held mixed-ownership enterprise. In December 2017, through a major asset restructuring, it became a subsidiary controlled by the listed company Guangzhou Baiyun Electric Equipment Co., Ltd. In 2007, the Company commissioned its Tieshan Industrial Park. The Park, with an investment of over RMB 300 million, is now one of the largest and advanced capacitor production bases globally. In 2017, it established a wholly-owned subsidiary—Guilin Zhiyuan Power Electronics Co., Ltd. Its power electronics industrial base project is planned with a total investment of RMB 1.2 billion, covering an area of 240 mu. The project is primarily designed for R&D and production of electrical system integration control equipment, energy-saving control systems, power electronic components, and other power electronic energy-saving equipment and systems. In 2018, the Company completed the construction of a dry capacitor industrial base, which has an annual production capacity of 30,000 large-capacity DC support capacitors. In 2022, it invested in and completed a sheet metal production line.
The Company's products cover voltage ranges from 0.4 kV to 1,100 kV, encompassing all voltage levels of China's power grid. They are widely used in power grid construction projects of the State Grid Corporation of China and the China Southern Power Grid, as well as in industries such as renewable energy production, wind power and PV transmission, rail transit, and new-type energy storage. These contributions have played a significant role in energy conservation, energy consumption reduction, and green electricity.
The Company has always placed great emphasis on technological innovation and transformation. Its UHV power capacitor production base ranks first globally in terms of technical equipment level and production scale, and its production process technology level also leads the world. The Company has a national-level technology center, with a well-established and advanced testing center for power capacitors. This includes a dielectric testing lab, a product testing lab, and a UHV testing hall. It has successfully developed internationally leading products such as one-million-volt capacitive voltage transformers and 800,000-volt UHVDC capacitors, making significant contributions to the localization of UHVAC and UHVDC transmission engineering in China.
The Company has participated in the construction of China's first 500 kV, first 750 kV, and first 1,000 kV UHV AC projects. It has also been involved in the construction of China's first ±500 kV and first ±800 kV UHV/EHV DC projects, making outstanding contributions to the development of UHV/EHV DC transmission engineering in China. The Company has received numerous honors, including the special and first prizes of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, the first prize of the National Major Technical Equipment Award, the special prize of the Scientific and Technological Progress in the Machinery Industry, the Special Contribution Award for UHVDC Transmission Projects and Key Contributor from the State Grid Corporation of China, and Excellent Enterprise of Guangxi.
